My New Year’s Resolution is to Love Myself More!!!

“Yesterday I was clever so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.”
Rumi

This quote spoke to me and I thought what a great way to start this new year!!!!

I want to give myself more – more love, more abundance, more of everything good.  This year I am dedicated to find ways to love myself more which will automatically send more love into the world. A win win!!!

Usually this is the time we tend to think about things we want to change and with that usually comes with us focusing on our short comings, having some negative self talk and sometimes even a bit of self-loathing for still doing/being this or that and vowing that this is the year we are going to be “better” once and for all.   I have been guilty of this myself – making those New Year’s resolutions that focus around me losing weight, doing more or changing some “negative” behavior that made me feel like I wasn’t quite measuring up in some way.

2014 ends that for me and being one of the ambassadors of the Self-Love Movement has made a great impact on me and the way I am talking to myself as we ring this new year in.  As I wrapped up 2013 and our family that had come into town to celebrate the holidays with us went back home I could feel myself starting down the path of OMG – now I have so much to do and I could feel the tension start in my chest and the stress starting to creep in.  My thoughts began to swirl about everything I want to do for my business, changes to the website, and all of the things that need to happen at my corporate Finance Director job as I prepare to close the year to file taxes.  Then some fears that I might have to miss spending time with my husband and daughters as I continue to grow my business came into my awareness.

My old pattern would have been to go into what I like to call the “brain spins” where I just sit in the stress until I work myself up into a frenzy – causing me to freeze and not do anything all the while beating myself for not accomplishing more, not being able to get things done faster, etc.

Instead I made a choice.   I remembered that I now have a new pattern and that new pattern is one that totally supports me.   I give myself permission to feel whatever I am feeling and give it a voice.  So I took a deep breath and let all of those negative thoughts come in and I just let them be.  I didn’t fight against them, I just let them roll around for a bit and then I did some tapping to clear them.

Then I started giving myself some compliments of everything I have accomplished, on all of the changes I have made by doing so much inner work and telling myself – wow, Cathy Hamilton, you are amazing – I love you, I love you, I love you.  My mood improved and I felt myself shift from nervous to excited for everything that this new year is going to bring.  I could actually envision my inner child giggling with delight and anticipation.

There are still a million things that I would love to accomplish (well that might be a bit of an exaggeration but I like to aim high) 🙂 and I do want to be able to continue to spend as much time with my daughters, my husband, family and friends as my business grows.   And I also know that as long as I keep choosing me, being nice to myself and being loving to me it’s going to be my best year yet and I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds.  Let the adventure continue!!!

Happy 2014!!!

Love it! What would life be like if we all gave ourselves praise, 24 x7 ? “Wow Cathy Hamilton you are amazing.” You truly are an ambassador of Self-Love. Happy New Year!

I definitely need to make this resolution! It’s amazing how critical of ourselves we can be, yet we are the only people that truly have our best interests at heart! Imagine if we were so critical of family or friends? I don’t think they would stick around for long to spend time with us! Continue radiating that love Cathy, we all need to hear it 🙂

Helen, isn’t that the truth – everyone would run for the hills if we talked to them the way we can talk to ourselves at times. Happy 2014 :)!!!

Thank you Cathy for this wonderful and much needed reminder (for me)!! Loving myself means listening to my body, really listening, and not keep pushing forward when it is asking for rest and relaxation! I’ve had some “brain spins” myself and they are not fun! 😀 Like you, I’m looking forward to 2014, taking care of and loving ME! xoxo
