Being in the know…

I do wish I was told differently. I wish that I knew it was even a possibility before the reality. I can understand that it could make sense to wait and tell me when it was confirmed – but even a little heads up, a small maybe would’ve been better. Our family had talked up all of these plans for the summer. I thought there was nothing wrong. If I was told before I got my hopes up, then I wouldn’t have taken everything so hard. The bottom line being that I want to be in the know, no matter good or bad.

Megan, you bring up a really good point. I am sure many family members are not only feeling the stress and fear for their loved one going thru the experience but also some anger, resentment, fear and sadness for how the situation is going to affect them personally. It is really important to acknowledge these feelings and honor how the situation is/was for YOU. An experience with Cancer affects everybody in all areas of their lives.
